Systems Maintenance, Automation and Robotics Technology

The Systems Maintenance, Automation and Robotics Technology program at the Marshall Advanced Manufacturing Center prepares students for entry to intermediate-level careers as systems maintenance specialists in modern industrial environments, maintaining and repairing manufacturing, automation and robotics equipment and systems. The program’s flexible approach allows students to design their career path in a variety of specializations that align with the needs of various types of manufacturers in the region.
College Degree Option
Students have the option to earn a certificate in applied science degree (one-year program) or an associate of applied science degree (two-year program) through our partnership with Mountwest Community and Technical College. Along the way, students earn a variety of industry recognized credentials and skill-set certificates.
Eligibility
The program is available to high school seniors and high school graduates, dislocated workers, welfare-to-work participants, employed individuals, participants in state or privately funded education or training programs, and employers who are expanding the technical capabilities of their current workforce.
Requirements
MAMC programs are not open enrollment and have admission and candidacy requirements in addition to community college admission guidelines. Each applicant must submit high school transcripts or G.E.D. records to MCTC and arrange an interview with an MAMC staff member.
Scholarships and Financial Aid
Specializations
In addition to the core courses, students pursuing an associate of applied science degree must complete an additional 33 credit hours that include one or more of the following areas of specialization:
Electrical, Mechanical, Fluid Power, General Maintenance, Electronic Maintenance, or Automation/Process Control.
The Marshall Advanced Manufacturing Center’s SMART program is funded by the Appalachian Regional Commission, the Claude Worthington Benedum Foundation and the Just Transition Fund.
West Virginia Invests Grant
Students from West Virginia who attend the Marshall Advanced Manufacturing Center’s Machinist Technology/CNC Associate Degree Program may be eligible for free tuition through the West Virginia Invests Grant program. http://wvinvests.org/apply/
