MAMC adds faster, more versatile 3D printing technology for public use

The Marshall Advanced Manufacturing Center (MAMC) has added a powerful new tool to the arsenal of 3D printers in its community makerspace, the Maker Vault, with the addition of a versatile, high-speed Bambu printer.

The Bambu X-1 Carbon Combo affords makers of all types and skill levels the ability to produce multi-color 3D printed creations quickly and easily. In addition, the X-1 Carbon is equipped to print with carbon fiber-reinforced materials, which are known for their exceptional strength, stiffness and lightweight properties.

“The potential applications for this technology are vast,” Stone explained. “From aerospace components to engineering prototypes, this printer can produce complex parts that previously were difficult for most people to achieve – and do so with 7 mil precision.”

The X-1C combo’s ability to switch between materials seamlessly makes it a valuable asset for makers, Stone said. It opens up a wide range of possibilities for projects, from durable, high-functioning prototypes to multicolor works of art.

Because of its wireless capabilities, not only can users connect to the printer via their phones, tablets or computers to start and stop prints and alter settings, they can observe the 3D print process in real time using the printer’s built-in camera.

Stone invites makers, techies and those who are just curious to join him for Tech Talk Thursday on Oct. 3 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Maker Vault (1050 Fourth Ave., Huntington) for a demonstration and discussion about the capabilities and functionality of the Bambu X-1.

“We believe that this technology will inspire people to push the boundaries of what is possible in 3D printing,” Stone said. “We are excited to see what our community will create with this powerful new Maker Vault tool.”

The Maker Vault is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from and Tuesday and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monthly memberships begin at $25. For more information, contact Stone at or 304-781-1659.
