Individuals can test-drive careers in manufacturing during free Introduction to CNC Machining camps offered in South Charleston by the Marshall Advanced Manufacturing Center (MAMC).
Participants will learn computer-aided design and CNC (computer numerical control) programming and operation as they create three-dimensional models and manufacture components to assemble into working air-piston engines. No experience is necessary.
The two upcoming South Charleston camps are July 7 through July 11 and July 28 through Aug. 1. Each session will run 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Lunch will be provided.
To register for any of the ACE camps, visit www.mfg.marshall.edu/cnc-bootcamps and choose the online machinist option then the date of an in-person camp.
Camps are open to those 16 and older who want to explore a machinist career, sharpen their machinist skills or just want to learn about this modern manufacturing process.
MAMC offers ACE Net camps throughout the year in Huntington and South Charleston. If the upcoming dates are not convenient, individuals can still sign up and will be notified when additional camps have been scheduled.
The Introduction to CNC Machining camps are an initiative of America’s Cutting Edge (ACE), a U.S. Department of Defense-funded program to boost American manufacturing by introducing individuals to machining and the machine tools trades.
