Free Introduction to Machining camps continue through June 19

There’s still time to register for one of MAMC’s free ACE Net Introduction to CNC Machining camps in Huntington or South Charleston – but you’d better hurry. Seats are filling up fast.

The remaining spring/early summer camps are:

  • April 23-24, 30, May 1 – South Charleston
  • June 1-5 – South Charleston
  • June 5, 12, 19, 26 – Huntington (Fridays)
  • June 15-19 – South Charleston

The upcoming April 9-10, 16-17 camp in Huntington is at capacity.

To register for any of the ACE camps, visit www.mfg.marshall.edu/cnc-bootcamps and choose the online machinist option then select the date of an in-person camp.

Participants will learn computer-aided manufacturing using Fusion 360; CNC (computer-numerical-control) set-up, programming and operation; blueprint reading; precision measuring; and more as they create three-dimensional models then manufacture components to assemble into working air-piston engines. No experience is necessary.

Camps are open to individuals 16 and older who want to explore a machinist career, sharpen their machinist skills or learn about modern manufacturing processes.

MAMC offers ACE Net camps throughout the year in Huntington and South Charleston. If the upcoming dates are not convenient, individuals can still sign up and will be notified when additional camps are scheduled.

The Introduction to CNC Machining camps are an initiative of America’s Cutting Edge (ACE), a U.S. Department of Defense-funded effort to boost American manufacturing by introducing individuals to machining and the machine tools trades.
