The Maker Vault, West Virginia’s largest makerspace, has been serving the community since May 2016 – marking its 10th anniversary. That’s 10 years of innovation, 10 years of creation and 10 years of transforming ideas into reality. The past decade has seen Marshall Advanced Manufacturing Center’s (MAMC) community makerspace blossom into an epicenter of creativity, expression, invention and making for the Tri-State and beyond.
The team at MAMC is excited to invite members of the public to stop by 1050 4th Ave. May 14 between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to help us celebrate this milestone. See demonstrations of MAMC’s various 3D printers, laser cutters and other technology available to makers of all ages.
MAMC also will showcase a unique display of 3D printed items and other cool creations by Make Vault members as well as provide hands-on making activities to allow attendees to demonstrate their inner creativity.
The makerspace occupies a former bank vault, a holdover from earlier years when MAMC’s Huntington headquarters served as a financial institution. Today, the makerspace includes not only the vault itself but also an innovative Design Works lab and a third large space equipped with an abundant set of crafting tools and technology.
The expanded makerspace features multiple 3D printers, laser cutters, vacuum formers, soldering equipment, a vinyl cutter, router, various woodworking technology as well as power and hand tools.
“The Maker Vault is a place where anyone can turn ideas into reality,” said Makerspace/STEM Education Coordinator Tyler Brandstetter. “We encourage people to stop by, explore the space and see how they can become part of our growing maker community.”
Light refreshments will be served during the May 14 celebration and there is no cost to attend.
