For 36 years, Marshall University’s Advanced Manufacturing Center (MAMC) has delivered innovative solutions with leading-edge technology to advance manufacturing and entrepreneurship. We encourage job creation, economic development, workforce innovation, and entrepreneurship by supporting individuals and manufacturers of all sizes. The Center conducts: a) business outreach to companies to ascertain needs; b) leases equipment to make advanced manufacturing accessible and affordable; c) provides prototyping assistance through design software and 3D printing; d) assists with implementation of quality management systems such as Lean & ISO; delivers workforce training via apprenticeships, customized training, and career skills programs in machining, welding, additive manufacturing, industrial maintenance, and robotics; f) sponsors STEM initiatives to encourage youth to seek local STEM careers and assist adults in product development; and g) delivers in-depth supply chain development support for both primes and subcontractors.

Our staff of 36 has more than 750 of industry experience and managed over $49 million in federal grant awards. Our technology centers and training facilities in West Virginia feature more than $24 million in equipment for shared use, training, small batch production and prototyping. More than 27,000 individuals have been trained in technical skills. Specifically, more than 950 individuals have completed the machining and welding academic programs, 95% of which have been hired in their field. Students learn on real world industrial equipment in a collaborative environment with industry. Now with support from the US DOL, we proudly serve as a National Hub for Manufacturing Apprenticeships.

Just last year, 324 companies were served, 978 people received training and 424 industry certifications were earned. We are committed to serving both industry and individuals and committed to growing manufacturing in our state and nation.
