Class focuses on safety of employees around industrial equipment

Implementing a comprehensive plan to keep employees safe around equipment in industrial settings is not just prudent, it is required by law. The Marshall Advanced Manufacturing Center (MAMC) will offer a Lockout/Tagout Safety course April 17 to help ensure your employees understand proper procedures for avoiding equipment hazards as well as know U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.

The course will run from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at MAMC Huntington (1050 Fourth Ave.) and will cover:

  • The importance of lockout/tagout in workplace safety
  • Hazardous energy sources and their risks
  • Step-by-step instructions for performing lockout and tagout procedures
  • The necessary personal protective equipment while performing lockout/tagout
  • Safe use of lockout/tagout devices
  • Compliance with OSHA’s Control of Hazardous Energy standard

The cost is $99 per person. More information and the registration link is online at www.mfg.marshall.edu/lockouttagout.

Erica Cheetham, who has nearly three decades of experience in industrial workplace issues ranging from supervisory management, conflict resolution and team building to communications and leadership skills, will teach the class.
