Interested in starting or advancing a career in manufacturing? Do you need to train company employees? The Marshall Advanced Manufacturing Center has been helping develop West Virginia’s workforce for more than three decades and has the training and course options to meet any need.
Career Skills feature our formal hands-on training opportunities in machining and welding. The technical skills students learn from hands-on training at the Marshall Advanced Manufacturing Center (formerly RCBI) make it possible for them to enter a shop floor setting and begin work immediately. Our programs feature nationally recognized industry certifications and students can earn additional skill set certificates, certificate degrees and associate degrees through our partnerships with community colleges. Financial aid and scholarships are available.
Machinist Technology/CNC Program which is recognized and certified by the National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS).
Welding Technology Program instructs students following American Welding Society (AWS) standards.
You will find information about our traditional training programs for machinist and welding. Enroll to earn nationally recognized industry careers, skill-set certificates, certificate and associate degrees if desired. Financial aid and scholarships are available.
The Marshall Advanced Manufacturing Center is part of an exciting new national initiative to revitalize American manufacturing by promoting innovation and training in the machine tools sector. Called ACENet, the project is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense.
To attract new talent to the machine tool industry and improve the effectiveness and efficiency of U.S. manufacturing operations, center offers free CNC (computer-numerical-control) bootcamps for individuals of all skill levels – or no experience at all. Receive free online instruction and hands-on, in-person training in the operation of computerized mills and lathes at the Center’s Advanced Manufacturing Technology facilities in either Huntington or South Charleston. Online instruction is self-paced. In-person bootcamps run for five days.

Our customized training opportunities allow companies and individuals to enroll in short-term training customized to meet their needs. Courses can be offered in varying lengths and built to company needs through our Industry Customized Training and offered to your whole team on-site or at one of our Advanced Manufacturing Centers. Our Manufacturing Fast Track Program offered at our Advanced Manufacturing Centers is a short-term, semi-customizable training option for individual employees.

On Demand Training
The Marshall Advanced Manufacturing Center partners with Tooling-U SME, the leading developer of online manufacturing-based training material, to provide specific training to individuals and companies at a discounted rate. Choose from a catalog of over 500 courses offered online.
The Center is also a provider of VelSoft Soft-Skills and Computer Skills-based online training. Choose from over 1200 training courses.
Camps and Workshops
To prepare the workforce of tomorrow for the many advancements in manufacturing and entrepreneurship, The Advanced Manufacturing Center’s Maker Vault and Innovation Center offer a number of camps that focus on science, technology, arts and engineering (STEAM) topics such as 3D printing, coding, robotics and more. While camps are usually conducted in person in our maker spaces, we have pivoted to virtual options during the Covid-19 pandemic.
