Machinist Technology Instructor

Position Type: full-time, exempt

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:  Must have a minimum of five years work experience with manual equipment, CNC programming and machine operation. Experience in machining that includes using engine lathes, horizontal mills, vertical mills, grinders, and saws are required. Must be proficient in the application of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, blueprint reading, the machinability of materials and set up of machine shop equipment. Knowledge of CAD/CAM software is required. Strong oral and written skills combined with a team-player attitude are required. Interested individuals must display self-initiative and the ability to work in a team environment. Must be willing to travel statewide to conduct training and visit manufacturing companies to advise of RCBI service offerings. An Associate degree in a technical field is required. A combination of experience, industry certifications, and educational experiences may be substituted for educational requirements.

Preferred Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Hands-on instruction or training experience is preferred. NIMS Level 1 Machinist certifications preferred. Oversight and supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus.

Duties:

Assisting with student pre-testing, interviews, and selection; developing lesson plans; maintaining discipline in the classroom and lab; instructing students on a day-to-day basis; evaluating student performance; maintaining attendance and test records; performing preventive maintenance on shop equipment; maintaining inventory of supplies; working with the RCBI Industry Advisory Council to maintain industry standards. Include day-to-day interaction with all RCBI sites, pertinent day-to-day interaction with RCBI management, intense day-to-day interaction with local and regional customers, assist with industry training contracts, ensure partner and industry satisfaction, lead in developing and implementing appropriate procedures and processes to ensure the latest technologies are available. Lead in maintaining a safe and clean facility, assuring all safety procedures are followed.

Additional Responsibilities:  Programming, set-up and operating CNC and manual machining equipment; maintaining familiarity with new and developing manufacturing processes and materials; assisting industrial sector with advanced metalworking and composite techniques to develop and enhance the regions’ industrial capabilities, and performing other duties as assigned.

Salary: Highly qualified applicants may earn up to $65,000.
