
Technical Trainer – Manufacturing
Position Type: Full-time, grant-funded, exempt position. Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Qualifications:
The Marshall Advanced Manufacturing Center (MAMC), formerly called RCBI, is accepting resumes for a Technical Trainer that will be based at MAMC-South Charleston with split duties with MAMC-Huntington.
Required Qualifications: Must have a minimum of five years’ work experience in a manufacturing field such as machining, industrial maintenance, automation, safety, electrical, logistics, or quality. Must have some experience training others and understand adult learning concepts. Strong oral and written skills combined with a team-player attitude are required. Interested individuals must display self-initiative and the ability to work in a team environment. Must be willing to travel statewide to conduct training and visit manufacturing companies to advise of MAMC service offerings and willing to do recruiting activities. An associate or bachelor’s degree in a technical field is required. May use a combination of education, certification, and years of experience to substitute for degrees and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Hands-on instruction or training experience is preferred. Experience with Fanuc controls is preferred. Experience with Solidworks or Autodesk and MasterCam is preferred. Oversight and supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus. Industry certifications such as, but not limited to, NIMS, AWS, or OSHA are desired.
Duties:
Designing and providing customized training to meet industry demand; assist with technical services for clients; assisting with instruction of various programs and related training for apprentice occupations. Duties may include student pre-testing, interviews, and selection; developing lesson plans; maintaining discipline in the classroom and lab; instructing students on a day-to-day basis; evaluating student performance; and maintaining attendance and test records. Performing preventive maintenance on shop equipment; maintaining inventory of supplies; working with the MAMC Industry Advisory Council to maintain industry standards. Includes day-to-day interaction with all MAMC sites, pertinent day-to-day interaction with MAMC management, intense day-to-day interaction with local and regional customers, ensure partner and industry satisfaction, lead in developing and implementing appropriate procedures and processes to ensure the latest technologies are available. Lead in maintaining a safe and clean facility, assuring all safety procedures are followed. Assist with student recruiting activities. Travel will be required, and candidate may split time at MAMC-Huntington location.
Additional Responsibilities: Maintaining familiarity with new and developing manufacturing processes and materials; assisting industrial and individuals with advanced manufacturing techniques to develop and enhance the regions’ industrial workforce capabilities, and performing other duties as assigned.
