Learn to harness the power of 3D printing, laser cutting/engraving

Marshall Advanced Manufacturing Center (MAMC) is inviting hobbyists, tinkerers and makers of all types to unleash their creativity with two exciting hands-on workshops in May.

Additive Manufacturing: 3D Printing Intro is a beginner-friendly dive into the world of 3D printing. Offered Tuesday, May 6, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., this workshop will guide participants through file types, workflows and software essentials. Attendees will leave not only with foundational knowledge of additive manufacturing, but also with their very own 3D-printed creations.

Whether you are interested in 3D printing for fun, work – or just because you’re curious – this course is the perfect primer to understanding this emerging technology that’s reshaping how things are made.

The spotlight shifts to Laser Cutting and Engraving with Boss Laser for our Thursday, May 8, workshop from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.  Participants in this beginner course will learn to use the versatile Boss laser to explore the basics of laser technology, safety and even more advanced techniques for working with various materials. Participants will get hands-on experience creating something of their own, sparking the potential for future artistic or technical pursuits.

Both workshops will take place at MAMC Huntington, 1050 Fourth Ave. The cost of each is $25 per person, which includes a free one-month membership to MAMC’s Maker Vault – a creative playground filled with tools and technology to unleash your making power.

For the laser cutting workshop, MAMC recommends attendees download the 30-day free trial version of Lightburn software to a laptop computer and bring it to the workshop.

Ready to make something amazing? These workshops are your gateway to creation, innovation – and a whole lot of fun! To sign up for either course, visit https://marshall.geniussis.com/catalog and click on Maker Vault in the categories listing.

Questions about either course can be directed to Deacon Stone at 304-781-1659 or .

These hands-on, in-person workshops are offered through the Marshall Skills Exchange, which delivers on-demand access to in-demand knowledge. Learn more at https://www.marshall.edu/microcredentials.
