MakerVault Wiki – Centauri Series

This quick-reference guide covers the Elegoo Centauri Carbon and Centauri Carbon 2, the high-speed CoreXY machines in the Maker Vault. While both share a similar frame and interface, the Centauri Carbon 2 often includes the CANVAS multi-material system.

1. Touchscreen Interface Overview

Both printers utilize a front-mounted touchscreen for all hardware calibrations and manual controls.

  • Prepare Menu: Use this to manually home the axes or move the **Printhead (X/Y) and the Heated Bed (Z)**.
  • Extruder/Filament Menu: The central hub for heating the nozzle and performing Load or Unload sequences.
  • Network Settings: Used to establish a Wi-Fi connection and find the Printer IP Address for remote slicing.

2. Filament Procedures

Standard Centauri Carbon

  1. Loading: Navigate to Extruder > Load on the screen. Wait for the nozzle to reach the preset temperature (e.g., 220°C for PLA). Insert the filament into the Filament Detector on the side and push it forward until the machine’s motor grabs it and plastic flows from the nozzle.
  2. Unloading: Select Unload in the Extruder menu. Once the automatic cycle completes, extract the remaining filament from the guide tube.

Centauri Carbon 2 (with CANVAS)

  1. Loading: For RFID-enabled spools, hold the tag against the recognition area on the CANVAS module until it beeps. On the screen, select the corresponding Spool Holder Number (1–4) and tap Confirm. Insert the filament into the matching inlet on the CANVAS module; the machine will automatically feed it to the ready position.
  2. Manual Loading: If using non-RFID filament, manually enter the material brand, type, and color on the screen before feeding it into the module.

3. Starting Your Print

  • Network Printing: In OrcaSlicer, enter the printer’s IP address to send files directly over the local network through Orca’s Printer Settings under Network.
  • USB Printing: Save your G-code to a USB Flash Drive. Insert the drive into the front USB Port, navigate to the Files menu on the touchscreen, and select your model to start.

4. Pro-Tips for Centauri Success

  • Plate Maintenance: These machines use a Double-Sided Textured PEI Plate. Clean it regularly with warm water and dish soap to maintain optimal adhesion.
  • First Layer Observation: Always monitor the first 5 to 10 minutes of the print. Ensure the lines are smooth and have a slight “squish” against the textured surface.
