Middle and high school students will embark on an educational and entertaining adventure into the world of science, technology, engineering and math during the Marshall Advanced Manufacturing Center’s (MAMC) series of STEMventure Summer Camps beginning in June.
Young innovators will design their own creations and manufacture them using MAMC’s advanced technologies that include 3D printers and lasers. Campers will learn how to take an idea from concept through the design and manufacturing processes. In addition, they will gain exposure to competitive robotics platforms they can participate in at school or by forming their own teams.
Campers also will learn about careers in manufacturing and tour a local company for an up-close look at modern manufacturing. Each camp will culminate with a mini maker fest during which campers will demonstrate their custom creations for family and friends.
Camp dates and locations are:
- Huntington: June 9-13 at MAMC Huntington, 1050 Fourth Ave.
- South Charleston: June 23-27 at MAMC So. Charleston, 100 Angus E. Peyton Dr.
- Mason County: July 7-11 (location to be announced)
- Wayne County: July 28-Aug. 1, Spring Valley High, 1 Timberwolf Dr., Huntington
While the Huntington and South Charleston camps are open to students from all areas, the Mason and Wayne County camps are only for students who attend school in those counties. More details about those camps will be released soon.
The cost for the Huntington and South Charleston camps is $200 per student and includes lunch each day, snacks, a camp T-shirt and the cost of all materials. A limited number of scholarships are available for students from families facing financial challenges. To apply, fill out the online registration form then complete a scholarship application instead of proceeding to payment.
