Weber brings students-first mindset to support role at MAMC

Alyssa Weber has always found purpose in helping others succeed – and she’s bringing that passion to her new role supporting students at Marshall Advanced Manufacturing Center (MAMC).

Originally from Alexandria, Kentucky, Weber earned both her bachelor’s degree in journalism and master’s degree in English from Northern Kentucky University. Prior to joining MAMC, she juggled multiple roles in education and curriculum development, teaching English as an adjunct professor at NKU and University of Cincinnati Blue Ash, serving as an adult education instructor at Maysville Community and Technical College, and working as a contractor to develop curriculum at Morehead State University.

Now settling into her position as Workforce Recruiter and Student Support Specialist at MAMC, Weber is excited to channel her experience into supporting students navigating the world of advanced manufacturing. Weber will be recruiting students for the machining, welding, and SMART programs, as well as delivering student support.

“In addition to recruiting students, some of the ways we support students are assisting them in completing paperwork and applications, resume development, locating community resources, and sometimes just giving them support to keep them on track in their degree or certification progress,” said MAMC Workforce Recruiter Jill Goheen.

“Student support has been something that I’ve been passionate about since I was in my undergrad,” Weber said. “I really [feel] like I [am] thriving when I help other people be successful.”

Though she was previously unfamiliar with MAMC, Weber was drawn to the center’s mission and the essential role manufacturing plays in everyday life. Influenced by her father’s career in engineering and manufacturing, she has a deep appreciation for the innovations that are shaping the future.

“We can’t be productive in our day-to-day lives without [manufacturing],” she said. “It really is going to be the way of the future. The only way to get the most out of that is if you’re supporting those who want to be in those roles.”
